Still here. Still Pregnant. Still trying to stay busy so I don't go insane waiting for the big show to start.
This is Huck's newest Christmas ornament. The new baby will have one too.
I have looked all over the internet trying to find the source of this idea that I spotted last week and I just can't find it.
It's a little moleskin blank notebook. I decorated it with some of the collage foil we made for our Christmas cards ala Bethany Actually. One of the cut-out collaged Christmas trees is on the back and I decorated a cover page, too. Then just punch a hole through the book and used some rick rack for the hanger. Ribbon would look nice as well.
Each page in the book has a year written at the top. I started in 2005, the December I was pregnant with Huck, and I wrote a few paragraphs about that Christmas and how I felt. Then for each Christmas so far I wrote a bit about where we were for the holidays, what Huck was enjoying and some of his favorite gifts and activities that year.
When he's old enough to write, he can take over and write a little something about what was special to him after each Christmas. Hopefully, it's an ornament he'll have forever and always be able to read back through with fond memories. And maybe one day my kids will pass along the tradition to their own families.
Great idea, huh? I so wish I could take credit for it. Or at least credit the crafty mama whose idea it was. Sorry, sister. But thanks.
