Me likey eat watermelon pop!

I think I'm going to have my hands full with this kid.  She is, as the doc put it at a recent visit, "precocious."  Even at the time I thought, "Hmm. That's a nice way to say better you than me lady."  She's crawling, saying "Mama," signing "dog," and wants a cell phone so she can text the hot 3 week old up the street.

 

It's really just a matter of time before she's eating dog food.

Jemma :: 5 months

Big Laughs

This road trip has brought Jemma to one of my favorite baby phases.  She's laughing.  Full out, carried away, total body wiggle, laughing. 

Before the trip she'd made a few noises that were trying to be laughs and she'd done a couple of little laughs that surprised her, but she hadn't really gotten tickled at something and kept going until we were at my best friend's house in Michigan.  She let loose while watching Huck and Amy's son, Josh, jumping on the bed and falling down.  She couldn't quite decide if she she loved the sensation or if she thought it hurt but she didn't let her indecision stop her.  She laughed at them until they were sick of jumping.

I'd gotten a few short encores after that but nothing as big and Stephen seemed to always manage to miss it.  You know how that goes.  You yell, "Come quick!  She's laughing!"  He drops what he's doing and rushes in and then you spend the next 10 minutes doing whatever stupid thing you were doing before and trying to recreate the moment while your baby just sits there drooling a puddle and marveling at the ceiling fan.

Well, the last 2 days she's been on fire.  She's been having a regular laugh-fest watching Huck and my Dad throw beach balls at each other.  She's clearly a fan of slapstick.  And her brother. 

Stephen finally caught the show yesterday and fell in love all over again.

Jemma :: 3 months

And already blogging.  My, how time flies.  I actually have a lot of trouble believing that I just gave birth 3 only months ago. It all feels so far away.

By the way, that is my all time favorite baby toy beside her.  Not the MacBook.  The other side.  It's a chain of organic wool rings.  COlorful, natural, soft and light-weight enough for a very small baby to hold.  I got from Babus, a wonderful Etsy shop full of organic wool baby toys.
